Day 12: Wrap it Up
On the Twelfth Day of Sewing…
We made it to the last day! It has been a lot of creative sewing, late nights and tons of fun. Thank you to everyone who has been following along and making some of the projects along the way with us (Keep sharing your amazing makes!). We thought a great way to finish up 12 days of handmade gifts would be some handmade cards and tags to use when gift wrapping all your hard work!
There are so many great ideas out there for handmade cards. We thought we would try to integrate our sewing theme as much as possible into our cards. The easiest way to do that is with buttons! We all have that stash of mismatched buttons that could be put to good use. You can also pick up some of the fun novelty buttons at any craft supply store- they are a lot of fun to mix in with the more traditional ones. Mix in some baker’s twine, ribbon and a few stickers and your are set!
Here are a few of the cards that we created using items from our stash!
Button Wreath- We used a variety of green buttons, similarly sized and topped it off with a bit of polka dot ribbon. Add a holiday message using a sticker or even pre-print it on the cardstock with a computer.
Button Tree- Again, we used mismatched green buttons, this time pairing them with a couple of novelty buttons. If necessary use some wire cutters or sharp scissors to snip the shank off the back of the buttons.
Button Tags- Similar to our cards just on a smaller scale. Just a couple of buttons and you have the perfect tag for any of your handmade gifts!
Note: For projects like this our favorite glue is Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue, available at any craft supply store. It is suitable for just about any surface and dries quickly.
With so many amazing card and tag ideas on online, we added a bunch of our favorites to our Handmade Gift Ideas Pinterest board. Be sure to check those out as well and follow along with us!
One of our favorite ideas, that we weren’t able to get to before this post, was to use cut outs to create the card design. It would be a lot of fun to try this and put fabric behind the cut outs rather than paper. Another great way to play with texture on a handmade card. (Link to source HERE)
We hope this inspires you to create your own cards and tags to accompany your handmade gifts! You can make them as simple or as complicated as you want and even use supplies you already have in your stash.
Thank you so much for joining us during the 12 Days of Sewing! We hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season and a happy New Year. Now time to go finish those handmade gifts! There are only 13 days ’til Christmas, yikes!
Happy Sewing and Wrapping!
